STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures, Old and New Testament, to be the verbally inspired
Word of God, inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts and the final authority in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 19:7).
God
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally
existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4;
Matthew 28:19).
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of
the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of His Father where he intercedes on our behalf. We believe in the personal return of Christ for His Church (John 1:1, 14; Luke 1:34-35; Romans 3:24-26; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
During this age He convicts the world of sin; He brings new life to those who are
spiritually dead; He baptizes all believers into the one true Church; He indwells believers and seals them unto the day of redemption; and He bestows spiritual gifts and fills those who are yielded to Him (John 3:3-8; John 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; John 14:16-17; Ephesians 5:18).
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, in innocence and without
sin, but man fell into sin and is therefore lost, becoming spiritually dead and alienated from God. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that salvation and spiritual life be obtained (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 3:10-18; Ephesians 2:13).
Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the
only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe. Those who receive Jesus Christ become the children of God (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting
blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting
conscious punishment (Luke 16:19-26; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Revelation 20:11-15).
The mission statement for Buffalo Bible Institute is “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:12). “Putting on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11). “The God of our instruction is love with a pure heart and a good heart and a sincere faith.” (1Timothy 1:5) Doing your best “to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). “So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19). “All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17) “This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.” (1Timothy 4:9-10)
BRIEF HISTORY OF BUFFALO BIBLE INSTITUTE
In 2003 while fellowshipping over breakfast at a local Perkins, Brett Schmidt, then the Associate Pastor at Buffalo Covenant Church, and Max Frazier, Principal of Village Schools of the Bible, began to dream of a place within Wright County where churches could send lay people to be taught the Bible in a systematic way and to be discipled as church leaders. This dream would have to wait another three years until it would come to fruition.
The first classes of the Buffalo Bible Institute were conducted in the fall of 2006. Classes were held at the Buffalo Covenant Church. The first courses offered were: Old Testament Law and History (instructor: Kevin Walton); Road toward Armageddon (instructor: Mitch Rayl); and Bible 101 (instructor: Max Frazier). Since then a variety of courses have been offered every fall and winter. Some of those courses have been: Old Testament Poets and Prophets, New Testament Survey, Book of Galatians, Book of Daniel, Introduction to Apologetics, and The Scroll of Revelation to John.
In the fall of 2007 classes were held at the Buffalo Middle School.
Buffalo Bible Institute is a non-denominational ministry whose mission is to equip adult believers through innovative and relevant education and practice. This is accomplished through the study of biblical issues in a more comprehensive and systematic way. BBI is guided by a board representing both pastoral and lay leadership from churches within Wright County.
